Welcome to the Roam The Globe Travel Company website! I am Dorothy Swaikoski. Prior to joining the TPI team over 8 years ago, I was a member of the Canadian military. I served in the administration branch, organizing travel for the military for 16 years. My postings included Ottawa, Victoria and Calgary with several duties elsewhere. Part of my service while in Victoria was with the the Navy where I sailed to many different areas of the world. That posting further expanded my attraction to travelling by leaps and bounds. Following an injury and subsequent medical release from the military, I knew just what I wanted to do...and today I have the pleasure of doing just that on a full time basis!
I travel as often as I can (not always as often as I'd like!) - not merely for personal pleasure, but to increase my databank of knowledge for my clients. While it is only a part of all the vacation and travel options that I offer to my clients, cruising is perhaps my most favorite mode of travel. Cruising allows me to see several parts of the world in one trip away from the office. Perhaps more efficient?? For those destinations where I send clients more often, I return as part of a land based trip to collect more indepth information - the information not so easily found in books.
I further expand my knowledge base by constantly upgrading and participating in various training formats. I take several courses throughout the year and attend conferences and product launches throughout Canada and the United States. I've obtained my Certified Travel Counsellor (CTC) certification with the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors, graduated from the College of Disney Knowledge and hold several major cruise line certifications - most notably my Master Cruise Counsellors (MCC) certification with the Cruise Line International Association and am looking to work towards my Elite Cruise Counsellor level. This is all in addition to the learning that I do while researching for my clients.
My mission in the travel world: learn all I can learn, see all I can see and use all that information gathered to give my clients their trip of a lifetime...!
