YFC MOVING TO AUTOMATED PARKING SYSTEM
Wednesday, November 17, 2010
FREDERICTON Airport’s long-term parking is moving to an automated system. Workers have begun to convert the long-term parking lot at the Fredericton International Airport to an automated system. The new configuration will have the existing entrance converted to an exit thereby providing two exits. The entrance will be relocated between the rental car lot entrance and the current entrance. Customers will be able to pay in lane with a credit card at the automated exit stations or by cash and credit card at a new pay station being installed adjacent to the exit lanes. The automated pay station will be enclosed in a shelter with security cameras. These changes are expected to significantly reduce the processing time for payment from the long-term parking lot. The project is part of a C$250,000 improvement to the overall parking system, including cart corrals and exterior benches, and will be completed near the end of the month.
E-PASSPORTS COMING FOR CANADIANS
Friday, March 26, 2010
Canadians to get e-passports CANADA has announced plans to introduce e-passports to its citizens as early as next year. Canadians who apply for passports will now receive a document with a chip that contains their photo and personal information such as their age, gender and date and place of birth. Only special and diplomatic passport applicants have received e-passports until now. It is hoped that the introduction of these passports will increase security and provide better protection against fraud. There are still a few issues that need to be ironed out and a major online consultation will also be taking place with Canadians to find out their ideas about this service. E-passports will also be valid for 10 years as opposed to the normal five. For a list of frequently asked questions and answers regarding e-passports, visit http://www.ppt.gc.ca/support/faq.aspx?lang=eng&id=810

TPI's Velocity Rewards Program for Consultants Celebrates 5 Years of Growth
Wednesday, March 02, 2011
WINNIPEG, CANADA – Celebrating its fifth consecutive year of record-breaking results for its exclusive Velocity consultant rewards program, Travel Professionals International (TPI), Canada’s largest network of independent travel consultants, announces expanded program rewards and the location of its much-anticipated Club Velocity trip for top-producing consultants and their guests.

Highlights of the recently-announced Velocity standings include:

- An increase to 332 participating Associates for the 2011 reward year, up 24% from 268 Associates for the 2010 reward year, and

- The number of Associates in the three highest tier levels of the program (Platinum, Diamond, and Elite) increasing by 14% over the 2010 reward year results, including a 41% increase in the Platinum (highest) level.

Due to the continued growth in the sales of consultants within the program, expanded Platinum level (consultants with more than $90 000 in commission per calendar year) rewards are being introduced, including but not limited to greater access to marketing dollars (up to a $2 000 value per year).

Built as both a motivational and incentive program, TPI Associates gain status in the various Velocity reward tiers through participation in TPI and TPI Preferred Partner functions (such as the TPI Annual Conference, preferred partner trainings, etc.), by receiving certifications and designations (such as those offered by CLIA, CITC, etc.), and by earning points through their yearly commission volumes.

In return for their acceptance into the various Velocity reward levels, Associates have access to such rewards as higher commission levels, complimentary registration in a variety of TPI programs (such as the TPI Annual Conference), and a complimentary land package for the Associate and a guest on the annual ultra-exclusive Club Velocity trip – in 2011 taking Associates and their guests to Bali, Indonesia. Previous reward trips took Associates and their guests to Jamaica, Barbados, and the Mediterranean.
