What could be better than combining your passion for bringing about social change with a week of fine wine, food and inspiring individuals? Global Volunteer Network can make this possible.
GVN's Be The Change program in Tuscany! Learn about starting a non-profit/charity or developing a career in social enterprise/international development, while taking part in motivational workshops. Last year's Tuscany Be The Change program included motivated and like-minded people from 11 different countries coming together to share ideas, learn from each other, and start a ripple effect to change the world.
If you'd like to know first hand what participating in the BTC program is really like, hear from Kimberly Jones, Tuscany 2010 participant about some of the skills she gained through the program:
"Attending BTC-Italy was amazing. Not only do you meet with Colin and his team of experienced humanitarians but you also meet other like minded people from around the world, making lasting connections.
I walked away from BTC-Italy excited, encouraged and motivated knowing that every effort makes a difference...one ripple at a time.
Since attending BTC-Italy I have been empowered to share my experience about working with nonprofits through a seminar hosted at my local community center. I've also had the opportunity to be an Ambassador for Eat So They Can hosting my own dinner and speaking at others dinners... BTC provided a solid foundation for me to take my passion for service to the next level."
The next Be The Change program will be held from June 9-16, 2011 in beautiful Tuscany, Italy (followed by Cape Cod, USA, 20-27 August 2011). For more information or to apply online click on the following link: http://www.globalvolunteernetwork.org/be_the_change/
It's up to each of us to make a difference that could change our world for the better. GVN would love to meet you in Italy and show you how to make your dreams for social change a reality!

WestJet is warning the public about the reoccurrence of a scam being perpetrated by fraud artists trying to obtain credit card information. The scam is occurring nationally via telephone whereby callers pose as WestJet or other reputable companies.
Although there are variations to this scam, fraudsters are randomly calling people to say that they are eligible to win a prize, but will have to purchase a product or send money to receive it. Credit card information is usually requested.
WestJet does not engage in telephone marketing or share guests’ personal information with third parties for use in telephone marketing. Those responsible for this fraud are calling telephone numbers they have selected at random.
“We have taken steps to warn our guests in the past when these scams have surfaced, and now this one appears to be making the rounds again,” said Bob Cummings, WestJet Executive Vice-President, Marketing and Sales. “We want Canadians to know that this is nothing more than a scam, and that we are not providing any guest information to these fraudsters.”
For more information on this and other scams, visit the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre at www.antifraudcentre.ca. Anyone receiving one of these calls should hang up immediately and call 1-888-495-8501 or email info@antifraudcentre.ca to report it.
